Abstract

MOOCs are a new opportunity in the educational field and are seen as a chance for entrepreneurship. This research aims to find out how innovative resources are used in the lessons that make up six courses offered on the «MiriadaX», «edX», and «ECO: E-learning, Communication, Open-Data» platforms. The selection criteria for these platforms were based on their popularity, relevance in the current context, and the strategy for promoting content in the digital environment. The conclusion is that the design and characteristics analyzed of the MOOCs affect the level of engagement of the participants. Likewise, the traditional educational design of virtual classes shows a lack of alternative elements of gamification and networking, generating a low level of interest and commitment on the part of the students.
